Welcome to the NCAEE

President's Welcome

Greetings NCAEE Members and Friends!

It is such an honor to be a part of this amazing professional organization! We are in our 9th year of providing high quality professional development to all elementary educators across this great state. NCAEE is dedicated to all who strive for excellence in elementary education.

Regional Workshops: Knowledge and Prizes

NCAEE recognizes that professional growth is essential in order to provide quality education to every student in North Carolina. Therefore, we will continue to conduct regional professional development opportunities to all regions in the state. These sessions will provide teachers, administrators, central support staff and future teachers to grow professionally and work collaboratively. Our regional workshops will be held between March 1st and June 30th. The participants of these workshops will not only gain valuable knowledge but also have an opportunity to win some fantastic door prizes. Prizes may include a free Nook, E-Reader or free conference registration for our annual conference.

Annual Conference: New Central Location

Speaking of our conference, we are pleased to announce that our annual conference will be held in a new centralized location this year, the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. The conference will be held on Nov. 4-6, 2012. Amenities that will be offered this year are free Internet and free parking to all attendees. Our keynote speaker will be national educational consultant, Marcia Tate. She is the author of Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites: 20 Instructional Strategies that Engage the Brain and Preparing Children for Success in School and Life. Please make plans to attend this wonderful opportunity and tell your friends and colleagues about it too!

Scholarships: Pursue Your Degree

As in the past, NCAEE will continue to award three $1000.00 scholarships during the conference. In order to qualify, applicants must be in pursuit of an advanced degree from an accredited college or university and teach in the state of North Carolina. A scholarship application form must also be submitted no later than September 30, 2012. Our updated application will be available by the end of February.

Awards: New NC Teachers

We will also continue to offer ten $100 awards to beginning teachers who are in their first, second, or third year of teaching. To qualify, recipients must teach in the state of North Carolina. If you are a newbie and wish to participate in the drawings, please make sure you enter your name.

Best wishes for success in your work this school year and I look forward to seeing you at a regional workshop and our annual conference in November. We value your contribution to the children of North Carolina.

Susan Bailey, President, NCAEE
